SKULLCAP has been tearing up the clubs with their own brand of hardcore/power-groove metal since the spring of 2001. In the summer of 2002, the band headed into the studio to record their 5 song debut EP “A Night Of Hate”. Over the next several months, their reputation for being one of the heaviest bands in the region began to take shape.

Fast forward to 2004. Now with a growing legion of fans - known as “Skullcappers” - asking when a full CD would be released, the band once again found themselves in the studio and a few months later emerged with their first full length recording entitled “Hatred Runs Deep”. SKULLCAP hit the circuit again, but before the CD could be printed and released, the drummer unexpectedly quit, leaving the band in a lurch. Not wanting to release a product while in this situation, the project was shelved. After a fruitless search of the area for a suitable replacement, the band ultimately decided to release the songs on their website, where they were made available for the fans to download for free. The band then took some time off and in the fall of 2004 got back together and again began the search for a drummer.

During this time, SKULLCAP kept sharp by rehearsing with drum machines and the pre-recorded drum tracks from the “Hatred” sessions. Armed with their own Pro Tools rig, the band had the ability to record some of the songs that the drummer couldn’t quite play and also audition some brand new songs written individually over the break. The sessions that would ultimately become the basis for a new full length CD began in the fall of 2005, and the songs marked a turning point for the band with more emphasis given to the drums and their ability to drive the songs with an almost tribal usage of the kicks and toms.

In the spring of 2006, with final mixes of a few songs complete, the band uploaded some of the new tracks to the music website Numberonemusic.com and in just a few months had received over 36,000 plays and over 48,000 page views. Boosted by this reaction, the band uploaded a new track entitled “Who The F*ck Are You?” to the highly popular, reviewer based Garageband.com website. The song quickly garnered a 5/5 star rating and was the recipient of the “Metal Track of the Day” Award on July 14th 2006. In addition, the band received accolades for the “Best Drums Overall”, “Best Drums in Metal” and the “Best Beat in Metal” for the week of July 10th 2006.

Currently, SKULLCAP is still carrying on the search for the right drummer and are continuing to write and record songs for their next release.
